Seeking a Friend at the End of the World is a romantic comedy about a man seeking meaning and love in his life with the world’s destruction imminent.
Steve Carell will be playing a man whose wife leaves him after the world has to deal with the inevitable, and soon, collision of a huge asteroid with the planet. He sets out to find a high school sweetheart, with his neighbor (Keira Knightley) accompanying him. Love blossoms between the two, and their love punchs the asteroid into the sun. Or not. I think they end up dead anyways, but in love and laughing on their way to hell.
They’re on their way to hell because Americans aren’t supposed to copulate with Brits. Unless it’s ME and Keira Knightley, in which case Angels will sing us to our rest.
Seeking a Friend at the End of the World is the directorial debut of writer Lorene Scafaria, who most of you might know as the writer of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. I hope that instead of using expensive CGI to make new graphics of an asteroid hitting earth, she just takes clips from Armageddon and Deep Impact. And doesn’t pay the royalties. Those movies were stupid and don’t deserve the honor.
