There are more than a few people in the Indian film industry, who started off as child actors, but continued to wow the audience even as adults. Here are a few of the best child stars the Indian film industry has seen, who have gone on to become some of our best actors as adults as well!
1.Kamal Hassan: Kamal Hassan starred in his first movie at the tender age of 6. Since then, he has acted in over 150 movies in a variety of genres, languages and regions. As a child prodigy he showed a lot of promise and talent. He persevered through adulthood and went on to be one of the most respected and most talented actors in the field of films. He has been considered to be one of the best actors in South India, or maybe all the country.
2.Aftab Shivadasani: Aftab Shivadasani has done tens of films such as Insaniyat, Shahenshah, Challbaaz, etc. He has even played the younger version of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan etc. After growing to be an adult, he made his breakthrough by acting in “Mast” a Ram Gopal Varma movie. He has acted in a lot of other movies such as Footpath, Darna Mana Hai, Awara Pagal Diwana etc.
3.Sridevi: Sridevi is a household name in India. What people don’t know about her is the fact that she is a child artist. She has acted in a lot of Tamil and Telugu movies as a child, usually acting in mythical and mythological movies. As an adult actor, she got her break in cinema through “Solvan Saawan” and there has been no turning back since then.
4.Neetu Singh: Neetu Singh was quite a talented child prodigy. She acted under the name of “Baby Sonia”. She did her first film in 1968, a Hindi remake of the movie, “The Parent Trap”, a movie called “Do Kaliyaan”. She played a double role in the movie. She gave memorable performances in Waris, Pavitra Paapi, etc. She grew up to act in Yaadon ki Baraat- her most memorable performance. Her film history includes movies such as Amar Akbar Anthony. She still acts in a lot of movies, her latest movie being Love Aaj Kal.
5.Shashi Kapoor: Many people remember Shashi Kapoor as the person who made the dialogue “Mere paas maa hain” in Deewar incredibly famous. But Shashi Kapoor had been acting for around 3 decades before that. He stared in his first movie “Tabdir” when he was six! He did a lot of mythological movies as a child and went on to do a lot of famous Hindi movies, such as Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Junoon etc. Of course, one would expect a person from the Kapoor khandaan to be a childhood actor- but Shashi Kapoor did go beyond his family name and delivered wonderful performances as a child and an adult.
6.Kunal Khemu: Kunal Khemu is an actor who appeared in his first acting venture when he was 4 years old. He appeared in “Gul Gulshan Gulfaan”, a Doordarshan performance. His first movie was Sir, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. He went on to act in movies such as Raja Hindustani, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. As an adult, his first movie was “Jannat”, which released in 2005. He has done a lot of movies since then and has gained a good reputation in the movie industry. He has acted in movies such as Kalyug, Traffic Signal, etc.
